Employment and Development Forecast

The employment forecast for Puslinch is defined as the number of jobs in a municipality divided by the number of residents. Key employment sectors include primary, industrial, commercial/ population-related, institutional, and work at home.

The 2011 employment base of 3,180 is comprised of the following sectors:

  • 105 primary (approximately 3%);
  • 435 work at home employment (approximately 14%);
  • 1,863 industrial (approx. 59%);
  • 648 commercial/population-related (approximately 20%); and
  • 130 institutional (approximately 4%).

Total employment for the Township of Puslinch (excluding No Fixed Place of Work) is anticipated to reach approximately 4,031 by 2024, and 5,029 by 2034.

According to the Township's forecast demand and available land supply, total employment growth is allocated to the following urban settlement areas over the 2014 to 2034 forecast period:

  • Aberfoyle- 2%
  • Morriston- 1%
  • Rural - 97%
