Pre-Authorized Payment Options

Benefits

Eligibility

  • You have no outstanding arrears on your tax account
  • You do NOT pay your taxes through your mortgage company

Options

When paying your taxes, you have the choice between 2 pre-authorized payment option plans.

11 month plan

  • 11 monthly payments will be withdrawn directly from your bank account on the 15th of each month (or the next business day if this day falls on a weekend or holiday) from February to December inclusive.
  • The final payment of the year (December) will be adjusted to clear any outstanding tax dollars owing.
  • A statement will be mailed 10 days before the date of the initial withdrawal in February and 10 days before the final withdrawal in December.

Tax installment plan

  • Four payments will be withdrawn on the regular tax due dates directly from your financial institution.
  • Statement mailed 21 days before the date of the initial payment (February and August)

Additional charges

Supplementary and Omitted billings added to the tax account are additional charges and are not included in the pre-authorized payment plan.

How to apply

If you would like to pay your taxes using one of the options listed above, you can fill out a pre-authorized tax form application. This form is also available at the Municipal Office. Please attach a "VOID" cheque and submit the application and void cheque to the attention of the Taxation Department. Please submit one application per property and please review the terms and conditions.

Deadline

A minimum of 10 days' notice is required to initiate the pre-authorized payment plan. If you are currently enrolled in the pre-authorized payment plan, it will automatically renew for the next year.

Cancellation

To cancel your pre-authorized plan or to change your banking information, you must notify the Tax Department in writing at least 10 days before the next payment is due.
