Property Assessment

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) assesses properties on a four year assessment cycle, or on an as needed basis.  After each re-assessment, a notice is mailed to the property owners. This is generally done in the fall of each year.  Municipalities use this assessment for calculating the property tax.  Any questions regarding your assessment should be directed to MPAC.

If you disagree with the assessment on your property, you have two opportunities to have it reviewed.  The first is a Request for Reconsideration (RfR), carried out by MPAC.  The deadline for this is printed on your Property Assessment Notice.  Forms are available on MPAC's website or at the Township Office.

The second is to file a Notice of Complaint with the Assessment Review Board if you disagree with the RfR from MPAC.  The deadline for this option is December 31 of the current year and there is a fee that applies.
