Closed Meeting Investigation

The Municipal Act provides that a municipality may appoint an investigator.

The Township's Closed Meeting Investigation process is as follows:

A member of the public may submit a request to the Investigator relating to compliance with the Municipal Act and the Township's procedural by-law for a meeting or part of a meeting that is closed to the public.

A complaint is treated as confidential, unless authorization is given by the complainant to release his or her identity.

A request is initiated through contacting the Closed Meeting investigat:

Alternatively, a request can be delivered to the Township Office in a sealed envelope clearly identified as a "Closed Meeting Investigation Request".

The investigator upon receipt of a request has 30 days to respond.
